Projections-5 year goal

December 4th, 2014 at 09:48 pm

Hi all

Diarying.. got into a crazy car situation today. hit something in the road . got an instant flat in the LEFT lane on 290.. where there is no shoulder.. had to cross 4 lanes with one tire flat and cars whizzing by to get to the right shoulder. Anyway. I am ok (working at home) and new tire and tire fix are free.

Projections. Diarying this so I can see how they change.

5 year goals are to the left.. I am looking LOW for savings and main house payoff. NOt sure if I will push to pay the house off but I think I WIll push the payoff on the 3 units early by 5/2019 . then all rentals are paid for.Savings will be hard to increase from my rate now unless I make more somehow. Estimates in the below are high for savings but like to set goals high vs low.

Why do you want so much cash? I can see the point early on. Not so much in 2022. If you can own your house and your rentals free and clear, I would want to put the bulk of that cash to work. Either I would buy more rentals or I would buy paper assets that will appreciate over time and/or produce income.

Ick. Left lane of 290! I do sympathize! Glad you're okay!

I agree with another reader. The cash is just waste IMO. Why would you just not pay off your mortgages?

That sounds incredibly dangerous (with the car). I'm glad you're okay.

Interesting posts. When I say cash I meant cash based investments not just low interest cash accounts.. but yes when I get there I will make some decisions. the $175k and the 6 homes paid for will be a huge milestone for me.. so will think clearer after that but wow if I get to that 2022 milestone (or sooner) that would be awesome.. still stabilizing the homes and 3 units and having sortof an uphill road to go of at least one more year of uphill.. one more refinance. new job and raising rents which may result in turnover $$.. This 'stabilziing' stuff takes a long time! My free tire is on nationwide back order at the tire vendor. I got one though online.. I pay for it and they reimburse.. new tire.. it will be installed next Saturday.. driving the Tahoe to work.. $$$ and not fun in rush hour.. truck is slower to accelerate and slower to stop..got to be careful because folks are cutting you off left and right..lost at least 5 people at work this week.. let go.... crazy.. not safe.. need to get out now.. before it is my head on the block next.. EVERYONE is searching and stressed.. my boss 'worked at home' all week..
